Hello and welcome to Year 2/3

The teachers in your Child’s class are Mrs McCarthy (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and Mrs Fisher (Thursday and Friday). We are supported every day by Mrs Barlow our Teaching assistant, Mrs Williams and Miss Simms. We are very excited to be working with your children this year and have lots to look forward to.

Mrs Fisher enjoys scenic walks over hills, through forests and along streams with family and friends and then enjoying a nice coffee and slice of cake in a café.

Mrs McCarthy enjoys spending time with her three children and going to concerts.

Brief Curriculum Overview

We run a cyclic curriculum to ensure that all pupils have the same learning experiences with our mixed-class structure. 

These cycles are taught on alternate years to ensure children in mixed age classes have covered all areas of the curriculum

We will also be continuing to use My Happy Mind which the children enjoy, and this will now be used to deliver our PSHE lessons.

What We're Learning This Year

This term, we’ll be exploring:

• English: Literacy shed-  Once in a lifetime.
• Maths: Place value, addition and subtraction
• Science: Animals including humans
• Geography: Our local area Radcliffe
• My Happy Mind: Meet the brain
• Computing: Online safety
• PE: Locomotion - jumping and dodging

Class Timetable

• PE day – Wednesday – please ensure children have a full PE kit in school consisting of blue, black or grey shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms, white or blue polo shirt or plain t-shirt and a jumper with pumps/ black trainers.

• Our spellings will be set on Wednesdays, and our spelling test will take place the following Wednesday. All children have log ins for spelling shed in their reading record books.
• Please aim to read with your child at least 3 times per week.

• Please aim for your child to access TT rockstars each week.

Useful Information

• Please ensure PE kits are in school each Wednesday Indoor and outdoor PE kits should be in school on these days as wherever possible we will do PE outdoors.
• A water bottle is required every day.
• Snack is provided for key stage 1 children (fruit) children may bring their own but this must only consist of fruit or vegetables or a yoghurt, we are a nut free school so no products containing nuts please.
